Still up in the air April 10, 2013

I haven't yet evaluated the Belize map in detail but will do so soon. My initial reaction is that Googlemaps Belize (free) is at least as good, maybe better, than this US$30 product.  I did notice some very out of date POIs on the map, including one hotel in Belize City that has been out of business for 10 years.

The whole process of downloading various programs and transferring the maps from my computer to my Garmin GPS wasn't exactly difficult, but it was a bit more complicated than I would like.

The maps worked well while I was in Belize City, in and around the airport but it did not have my destination city listed so I was unable to program it, just had to look at it like a street map. I stayed in Placencia Village at the end of the Placencia Peninsula. As I drove down them the streets were all there, so I am confused as to why I was not able to use the city as a destination.
Otherwise the map was well done.

I just purchased and installed the 2013 Belize maps. The whole installation process took over an hour between all the other extensions and programs that need to be downloaded first.  Basecamp itself required a few things.  Once the map is transferred to the device, it looks OK.  I wish the POI database would be more complete.  Very few hotels and restaurants are included.  None of the two lodges where I plan to stay are included in the POI.  Can't seem to find fuel stations either.  Having said that, it is much better than just a one-page paper map.  I hope it works well when I get there next month.

Great Source for obscure GPS Maps August 26, 2012

It has always puzzled me why companies building GPS units don't commit more resources to providing detailed maps of the whole planet. One would think it would improve their market several fold. Whatever their oversight, I'm just glad we have companies like GPS Travel Maps to take up the slack without gouging the consumer. GPS Travel Maps saves the day for those of us that travel to small obscure places and they do a great job of keeping all their maps updated. Hats off to them and I always recommend them highly to those asking me about GPS coverage in other parts of the world.

We were so excited to find a firm that had a map of Belize, we pounced on the opportunity; however, it was not compatible with our GPS unit. Nicole in Support straightened us out and after swapping our unit for a Garmin, found that the accuracy (needed to map our creek) was twice that on our tests! The company also allowed an incentive for us! What a great company - especially these days! Thanks many times for the assistance and we look forward to recommending and future purchases.
